OMSI, Electromagnetics & Simple Circuits

The Sea Lions wrapped up their Physics Unit this week by experimenting with electromagnetics and simple circuitry (see photos below), then headed to Oregon Museum of Science and Industry for a day of physics fun! The Sea Lions took part in an OMSI lab where they worked as partners to design and engineer their own roller coasters. They put their knowledge of gravitational potential energy, kinetic energy, mass, resistance, speed and more to good use as they created corkscrews and loops in their roller coaster tracks. Along with the lab, the Sea Lions visited other exhibits in the museum and showed off their physics knowledge as they experimented with static electricity, wind energy, thermal energy, sound energy, light energy and simple circuits. As one of the Sea Lions said, “OMSI is even cooler now that I know so much about physics!”
